Resting spaces for travelers provide shelter from the sun for brief periods. The designer observed the stone carving process by local stonemasons, who typically manufacture thin stone sheets for commercial sale. This raised a question: if we reconsider the process of stone before it is cut into thin sheets for wall construction, could this lead to new possibilities for materials and construction techniques? In these examples, the observation of local materials and building methods opens up innovative ways to repurpose and adapt traditional materials for contemporary design challenges.

Adjacent to this is a shelter that incorporates stone and slings into the structure of a shade canopy. This structure supports a canvas cover, offering shade for the multifunctional space within the courtyard.
