PHTAA is inspired by Saphankwai, a charming district in Bangkok where PHTAA company was born. Though no longer considered a prime district and only a pass through, Saphankwai still has its uniqueness hidden down the narrow passages between buildings, housing food stalls and restaurants, cozy bars, love hotels, entertainment places, textile art communities, and a number of design studios. Such frenzy and diversity make up the context that drives the design of this chair.

The heart of the design is on the chair’s cylinder cover which represents the endless chaos of Saphankwai. The cover will twist and display a distinct pattern every time the user spins the chair while working, playing, or relaxing. As the chair smoothly spirals in a full 360 degrees, it also creates an aesthetically 3-dimensional visual, an enticing sight symbolising infinite creative possibilities fostered at PHTAA.
